Ways To Spot A Bad Online Health Insurance Quote
Thursday, July 1st, 2010 by adminThere seems to be an information overload in this country. Everyone is throwing information at you and it becomes increasingly difficult to spot what is good information and what is information that is otherwise useless. This is never truer than when shopping online for a health insurance quote. There is so many different places and information given in an online quote that knowing a bad one can almost take a miracle.
If you are prepared to go into the quoting process, you can save yourself from the aggravation of having to be stuck with sub par health insurance.
First of all, you must remember that if something is too good to be true, than it probably is. When you do your health insurance quote and the premium comes out to be lower than you expected, please don’t assume that you got a great deal. Know that it’s possible that you are missing some vital piece of information. An online quote can be lower than others but if it is too low, than there is something wrong.
Pay attention to the deductible. A quote may be low for your monthly payments because the deductible is incredibly high. A bad quote may show you just the premium and conveniently leave out the fact that when it comes to receiving your medical services, there is a large chunk of cash that will be left up to you to pay.
Another sign of a bad online quote is when they do not cover routine services. Routine services are yearly physicals and health screenings and regular blood tests to check for diseases or deficiencies. Any insurance company worth their salt will cover things that equate to preventative measures. Some insurance companies will give you an online quote but it will be without covering these simple things. This is not only irresponsible of the insurance company but it is not the kind of service you want from a company. It will cost you far more money in the long run.
Also, check the hospitals a quote covers. Sometimes a quote is lower because they are covering a lower number of hospitals, and at times it means a lower quality of hospitals. The best case scenario is that you have a large network of hospitals in your area to choose from. This gives you the most options for your health care. However, insurance companies may deal with smaller, less expensive hospitals to keep their cost down. So if you are interested in these places you should consider any quote, but if you are looking for a plan that gives you the most options you’d be better off searching for a better quote.
