Long wait times or answers that are ineffective or confusing may mean that the company is more interested in its bottom dollar than serving clients.
A second way to evaluate the function and intention of your insurance company is through actual performance during and after a health event. Examine how long it took for paperwork to be filed, and how quickly a claim was settled. Were there an unreasonable amount of questions asked or forms missing, and did the company respond promptly to any inquiries that you had about the process? While every company will have its own procedures when it comes to filing claims, if your current company takes the maximum time allowed to processed claims and makes it difficult to obtain information about the status of your claim, it may be time to consider a new provider.
A low health insurance quote can often mean lower service standards, but this is not a hard and fast rule. The surest mark of great service is consideration of a company's practices from the initial quote procedure through to claims and payment. It will be plainly evident within a short period of time just how much your interests lie at the heart of your company's focus.
