Affordable health insurance is not something that every provider is providing. However, as the economic woes worldwide deepen, it becomes more and more likely that health insurance companies are going to become issuing cheaper plans. Is this something that could save the economy? Yes, it is, but only because of a few factors that most folks don't think of.

Most people who are gainfully employed are offered the chance to get health coverage through their employer. This is an easy way to get coverage, but not every company offers affordable health insurance. In fact, some of the health insurance companies that are offered can be quite expensive. This problem ranges from the public to the private sector.

With the option to purchase their own insurance, consumers will be able to save money on premiums that they are used to paying out every month. This, in turn, saves disposable income for the normal family. However, it also does things for the businesses that are affected by the disposable income that consumers spend.

Every "little" purchase that folks used to make might see a return because that disposable income has returned to the family or individual budget. Those little purchases add up quickly, but they help to support all manner of businesses.

This same concept applies to the medical professionals who are paid through insurance companies. When the insurance premiums are a little bit lower, that extra income can easily go to paying a portion of a medical bill that is the responsibility of the patient. This brings in money for medical professionals that they might not be receiving right now. The costs of trying to recover payments alone will likely go down very quickly.

Taking that a step further, each medical office and center will be able to afford a few extra positions that they had to cut earlier in the economic crisis. In a way, the disposable income that is saved on cheaper insurance premiums can help to save jobs. A nickel or dime might not seem like much, but a few nickels and dimes from millions of people can help to create jobs for those who might have lost them. This also allows for worker mobility.

Every other company that is dependent on the insurance companies is also going to see more business. This could be from everything as simple as building maintenance to more complicated items such as IT support.

It should also be pointed out that the insurance companies who are getting more business due to better premiums are more likely to hire when they have more business. Affordable health insurance can help to save the economy. It will happen slowly, but the possibility is there.
