Laws That Might Change Health Insurance Quotes In 2012
Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 by adminThe Affordable Care Act is the current federal government's most important piece of legislation and something they hope to push through in large part by the time their current term is over. Even if the sitting government does not win again, enough measures are in place that the Act and its laws should carry into the lives of all Americans, meaning a change in both the way health insurance quotes are assessed in addition to interacting with state health insurance law to hopefully bring more reasonable rates to citizens of all economic strata. While the law will not be fully implemented until 2014, there are a number of laws coming into force that may change the way health insurance quotes are created in 2012.
In October of 2012, the Affordable Care Act will begin to look at reducing the paperwork generated by things like health insurance quotes and claims and also lowering administrative costs overall. This is to be done by requiring private insurance companies to adopt secure and standardized methods of electronic reporting, which are aimed at not only making access to information more streamlined for those with the right permissions but helping to lower waste produced and time spent on paper file management. The hope is that these new measures will lower health insurance quotes over time for all Americans.
The government is also set to begin encouraging Accountable Care Organizations, which are groups of doctors and specialists that band together in order to offer patients better care at a lower cost. In combination with state health insurance law, the development of these organizations is aimed at reducing overall insurance costs. If these organizations are able to lower the cost per patient and help Americans receive better treatment in a more timely fashion, the government has agreed to let them keep a portion of the money they save as a way to thank them for their efforts. While there is no requirement that doctors or other medical professionals join these organizations, they offer the potential not only for greater profit but greater access to services overall.
While there are no guarantees that new health care laws provided for in the Affordable Care Act will lead to lower quotes and better care for Americans, that is the intention espoused by the current government, and so far the results have been promising. As new parts of the Act and its laws come into force over the next few years, citizens can expect to see at the very least a change in the health care landscape as a public health option is created and private health providers are held to a government-mandated standard of care.
