There are a number of health plans for Blue Cross customers in Arkansas. These plans can cover groups, individuals, and families. Programs include:
Short-Term Blue
Under this short-term health care program, each patient is provided with coverage for between one and six months. In addition to choosing the period of time for the health insurance claim, patients can choose the amount of the deductible.
Basic Blue
For those unable to afford high coverage plans, Basic Blue keeps patients from falling into debt after severe illness or injury. If needed, coverage for prescription drugs and physicals can be added on an additional rider.
BlueCare Dental
Dental costs can be nearly as high as standard medical expenses. BlueCare Dental provides deductions on dental procedures. And there are no deductibles on preventative care, such as annual checkups.
Medi-Pak® Medicare Supplement
With Medi-Pak, patients can fill the gaps in their Medicare coverage. There are a variety of different levels in the Medi-Pak program, and extra benefits such as automatic health insurance claim filing, and in-home health care for those who need it.
Pharmacy Program
The Arkansas Blue Cross Pharmacy Program allows clients to forgo paper claim forms. When prescriptions are filled at the pharmacy, patients are immediately notified if the medication may have harmful interactions with other medications the patient is taking and whether the prescribed dosage is appropriate for the patient's age.
The Pharmacy Program offers three tiers. The first tier covers generics and has a lower co-pay, while the second tier covers low-cost brand name medications, and the third tier covers high-cost medications.
In 2007, Arkansas Blue Cross received an 'Excellent' rating from the A.M. Best Company. According to this independent rating company, Arkansas Blue Cross has significant capital strength and a significant market share.
